Piggy Pics of the Day: Piggies Rule

Like Murphy's law, its just another indisputable fact of life that piggies rule! Here whee are posing with the decorative wooden block our humans brought back from the Pignic. As you can see, whee don't always wish to cooperate with the photographer... well, piggy modeling is hard work you know!

Poof somehow managed to get her nose dirty - even though everything around her is clean

Peaches decides to rebel

"Okay we're done for today, I hear a fridge full of veggies calling my name!"

Piggy Pics of the Day: Guarding the food

Guarding my food

Revy demonstrates one way to keep your food secure from other poaching piggies. Here is her three step process:

Step 1 - Select VIV (sort of like VIP, except it stands for Very Important Veggie) to protect. Try to limit yourself to one, because sleeping on more than one food item becomes lumpy and uncomfortable. Also, it becomes difficult to defend more than one VIV.

Step 2 - Stretch out and arrange self over VIV, making sure to cover as much as possible

Step 3 - Proceed to sleep.* Enjoy warm snack upon awakening!

*Optional: sleep with eyes open to ward off potential poachers.

"This is MY snack!"

Post-snack nap retreat in my pigloo.
Observe how I have dangled my cute paws outside as bait for treat-wielding humans.

Piggy Pics of the Day: Piggies Gone Platinum!

Coppy and Morry have gone platinum! Our humans had these made a while ago. The bottom two don't do our cute faces justice, but oh well, what can you do (except try to eat it, but whee aren't allowed to munch plastic). Now they can see our faces whenever they pull them out, hopefully when they are at the local market and a plethora of vegetables are in the vicinity hehehe.

Find the Piggies

Can you find all the piggies in this webcam snapshot? Click on the image to see a large version! Our slaves were testing out how whee would fare in our pigsitter's place and monitoring us via webcam. Other than the big production of moving all of us, our cages, bedding, pigloos, water bottles, bowls, hay, pellets, food and other accessories, it was rather uneventful.

Think you got the answer? Continue on to see our key.

Piggy Pics of the Day: Poker for Parsley

Poof deciding which cards to keep

While our humans were away, whee guinea pigs decided to have a few games of piggy poker using our new deck of piggy playing cards. Instead of poker chips and money, whee played using more important currency - FOOD! Here are a few pigtures of our Poker for Parsley night.

Peaches the dealer prepares the deck - she shuffles by sitting on the cards and  popcorning

Truffle was the Purveyor of Parsley, protecting the loot

Belka puts on her thinking cap

Revy decides to raise

Belka's bluffing face - cute, no?

Poof opts to leave the table while she's ahead

Truffle takes her cut of the winnings
Whee are not sure who really won, but for some reason, whee think it was Truffle...

Piggy Pics of the Day: Portrait of a Peruvian

Peaches here, presenting Morry, our herd's only boar, and only Peruvian! A Peruvian is one of those long-haired breeds, Morry's fur grows pretty quickly so our slaves need to give him trims regularly. Morry's fur parts in the middle straight down his back, and when left to its own devices, grows forward over his nose in front.

However, our slaves noticed that he prefers his fur shorter because he keeps shaking it away from his face when its longer, so they keep it clipped short for him. They also make sure to keep the fur near his rear short so things won't get too messy back there. Since I am a short-haired American, I am always sort of jealous because he has such long, lustrous locks while I just have this short fuzz. But, at least I can take consolation in the fact that because I'm short-haired, the slaves can't style my fur into something resembling a lion's mane! *giggles

Piggy Pics of the Day: Being blow dried at the spa

A very disgruntled Truffle

Of course, since we piggies are not self-drying creatures, after every bath comes something equally as trying - blow drying! Our slaves try to fool us by telling us that whee are getting a complimentary blow drying after our shampoo fur treatment at the "piggy spa", but we know better. The phrase "Piggy Spa" is to be dreaded, such as in the case of "manicures" and "pedicures", which is really just their code word for nail trimming. WhEEK!

What they are actually trying to do is ensure that whee end up with soft, shiny, pettable fur. Or style us so we end up looking ridiculous, like long-haired Morry the Peruvian. He always ends up looking like he has a lion's mane around his head. He insists it is not as funny as it sounds.

While some piggies may not mind baths, so far absolutely none of us has ever enjoyed being blow dried. That  hair dryer is the devil! *DURR durr durr

Piggy Pics of the Day: Non-fun in the suds, aka BATH TIME!

Coppy in her bubble bath

It's a word that (almost) every piggy fears hearing: BATH! :(

So imagine our displeasure when those pesky humans of ours decided to give us all a bath this past weekend. So what if whee were a bit yellow, dirty, fur-stained, or smelly? Piggies are just NOT MEANT to be squeaky (or is it wheeky?) clean! *chut chut grumble grumble

Oddly enough, the humans have run into piggies who haven't minded baths in the past. Their first two, Cinnamon and Caramel, actually enjoyed their washings. They were very calm and squeaked the same way they would when they were enjoying a nice petting. Observe them inexplicably relaxing in the tub below.

Cinnamon

Caramel
The same could not be said for Sharky and Coppy - when they were given their first baths as younger piggies, they clawed the humans so much it looked like a cat had attacked!

Sharky
Morry was relatively well behaved during his baths... maybe because he preferred his long Peruvian locks shiny and clean.

Coppy

True to form, Truffle and Belka tried to leap out of their bath tubs. They did not succeed in escaping, but did manage to leave slippery trails of suds everywhere to mark their noble endeavors.

Truffle
Surprisingly, and quite contrary to their usual Abyssinian attitudes, Poof and Revy were relatively calm. Perhaps they also wanted to be wheeky clean? After all, Poof did manage to turn her bathwater yellow...

Poof - dancing in the tub or getting her tummy washed?

Belka
Peaches kept grunting every time she was sprayed down... she must have been under the impression that Belka was spraying her with pee again.
